Tag Orders
Auto tag orders by creating rules based on conditions of the order, products, shipping, or customer.
How it works
When new orders come in, Order Automator compares your rules to the Shopify order data at that point in time, then tags the order if the rule matches the data.
If a rule isn't working as you expect, see the Troubleshooting Tag Rules.
You can add multiple tags on the same rule by separating the tags with a comma in the Action section.
Why tag orders?
The main reason people tag orders is to organize orders for quick searches.
Some examples:
- Identify special orders, for example orders over $999
- Use order tags to communicate with other apps (tell an app not to fulfill orders with tag X)
- Create shortcuts of a list of orders that meet certain conditions
- Tag international orders or orders by country
- "It helps us to easily and quickly see our orders by country." (5 star reviewer)
Get notified when a tag rule matches
After you create a tag rule click the mail icon to set up an order notification.
You can have an email sent when that tag rule triggers.
See Set Up Order Notifications for more info.
Testing tag rules
After you create a tag rule, it's a good idea to process the rule on a single order to confirm that the tag is applied as expected. See Testing Orders here.
