Amazon order options

If your Amazon marketplace allows it, you'll see additional options for Amazon orders:

These options apply to every order sent to Amazon. You can also apply them to specific orders using a fulfill rule. See Enabling for specific orders below.

Ship packages in blank boxes

Request Amazon to ship orders in plain boxes with no Amazon logos or branding.

  • Packaging materials (boxes, tape, poly bags) are generic
  • This helps maintain your own brand identity when selling outside Amazon
  • If you sell on 3rd party marketplaces (Walmart, eBay, etc) check the marketplace's guidelines to see if they restrict shipping in Amazon boxes. If yes, enable this feature.

See Amazon's documentation on this feature here.

Block Amazon Logistics as a shipping carrier

Use this feature to prevent Amazon Logistics from handling the deliver of orders.

  • Enable this for marketplaces that restrict using Amazon Logistics (ex: Walmart, eBay)
  • Amazon charges a 5% surcharge for blocking Amazon Logistics at the account or order level
    • Note: this fee is wavied until January 14th, 2027

See more info from Amazon here.

Fulfill with Amazon early tracking

Amazon can provide a tracking number within minutes of receiving an order, before a carrier is assigned. Order Automator can then mark the Shopify order fulfilled with that tracking number right away instead of waiting for Amazon to ship.

This is useful for marketplaces with tight tracking upload deadlines, like TikTok Shop.

Requirements:

  • Amazon United States marketplace
  • Single item order, quantity 1
  • Enabled on a fulfill rule (see the next section below Enabling an option for specific orders)

The option when creating / editing a Fulfill Rule:

How it works

  1. The order is requested to Amazon as usual.
  2. Order Automator checks Amazon for the early tracking number, starting a couple of minutes after the order is created.
  3. When the tracking number appears, the item is marked fulfilled in Shopify with that tracking number.
  4. When Amazon actually ships the package, Order Automator updates the order as shipped. For regular Shopify orders, the customer shipping notification is sent at this point using the same tracking number. For orders imported from TikTok Shop or Walmart using Order Automator, Shopify does not email the customer, those marketplaces notify the buyer themselves.

Notes:

  • The tracking number never changes. The tracking link goes to Amazon's tracking page, which updates with carrier and delivery progress as the package moves.
  • The carrier on the Shopify fulfillment shows as Amazon MCF because a carrier hasn't been assigned yet.
  • Some marketplaces validate tracking against a specific carrier and may reject an Amazon tracking number. Only enable this for channels that accept Amazon tracking (ex: TikTok Shop).

⚙️ Enabling an option for specific orders

The Options in the Amazon feature apply to all orders. If you only want those options to apply to specific orders, use one of these tactics:

Automatically using Fulfillment Rules

You can configure a fulfillment rule to automatically apply the options to orders that match the rule's conditions.

  1. Go to the Order Automations page, Auto Fulfill tab
  2. Create a new fulfillment rule or edit an existing one
  3. Set the action to Request fulfillment
  4. Select an FBA location (ex: FBA United States | Order Automator)
  5. Under Amazon Options, check the options you want:
    • Ship packages in blank boxes
    • Block Amazon Logistics as a shipping carrier
    • Fulfill with Amazon early tracking (United States only)
  6. Save the rule

Any order that matches the rule's conditions will automatically include the selected shipping options when the fulfillment request is sent to Amazon.

Note: If the option is already enabled globally in your Amazon marketplace settings, it applies to all orders automatically, you don't need to also enable it on the rule.

💡 Rule-level options are useful when you only want the option applied to certain orders.

Example setup to block Amazon logistics and use blank boxes when shipping orders from Walmart:

Manually requesting fulfillment

When requesting fulfillment from the Shopify orders page, you can apply options to individual orders by typing them in the Note to fulfillment service field.

  1. Open the order in Shopify
  2. In the Fulfillment section, click Request fulfillment
  3. In the Note to fulfillment service text box, type one of these:
    • blank box
    • block amazon logistics
    • early tracking
    • or combine them, ex: blank box, block amazon logistics, early tracking
  4. Click Send fulfillment request

You can include both options by separating them with a comma, ex:

Note: If the option is already enabled globally in your Amazon marketplace settings, it will apply to all orders automatically, you don't need to type it in the note.

Setting options in Order Automator vs Seller Central

Note: Options can be enabled as account-level defaults in Seller Central, but you can override those by enabling options in Order Automatoreither globally or for certain orders.

Example: In the settings below from this account in Seller Central, by default orders will not block Amazon Logistics, but if you wanted to block that for specific orders (like Walmart orders) or you want to control the setting for a specific marketplace you can do that in Order Automator.
